You’ve got your Chromebooks, but how do you get the most out of it? Through applications and extensions! These apps and extensions will enhance your Chrome experience and help keep you and your colleagues working efficiently and productively. Here are some of our favorites at Promevo*.
Ever needed a vital document from a colleague who was on vacation? Don’t let their absence slow your business down! gPanel eliminates this bottleneck by letting your G Suite administrator share files-or even entire Google Drives- between coworkers. gPanel is a lifesaver when deadlines meet time off.
Sending an important email or think you’re finished with your blog? Get a second set of eyes on your writing with Grammarly! Grammarly checks your writing’s spelling, grammar, and punctuation to ensure that you’re publishing your best work. Grammarly alerts you to suspected issues and explains the reason for their correction. Then you can manually decide if their suggestions make sense to your writing and accept or reject the revision. While the extension itself doesn’t support Google Docs, a quick copy and paste into the web app will enable the editor.
We are huge fans of Google Hangouts and use it to keep in touch with other departments and offices. This instant messaging service lets you quickly connect with teammates who work remotely or in a different office. We also like the searchable archive, which makes it simple to find information from previous messages, and that you can mute conversations if you need to focus.
FireShot makes it easy to screenshot and share your page. This extension gives you the option to capture full web pages (even the parts not visible on your screen), what is currently on your screen, or lets you select what you want to clip. You can then save your screenshot as a PDF, JPG, or PNG, copy it to your clipboard, print it, or send it via email. FireShot makes it easy to share mock-ups and visual inspiration.
Each new tab can be a time to refresh and refocus. Momentum pairs gorgeous natural photography with inspirational quotes for a calming way to revive employees. At the beginning of the day, users can fill out a to-do list that they see when they open a new tab. This will remind them of what they need to finish and making them consider if the new tab will help them achieve the day’s goals.
If you need more motivation than Momentum’s to-do list, Strict Workflow is your best friend. Strict Workflow works on the Pomodoro Method, which has you work 25 minutes straight before a 5-minute break, though you can adjust your work-to-break ratio. During your work time, you can either blacklist certain distracting sites or only whitelist the websites you need to get your work done. When your time is done, you’ll get your choice of a flashing notification or an end sound, and a little time to relax.
Sometimes you are working so hard researching or multitasking that your multitude of tabs starts to slow your internet load time. The Great Suspender combats this by suspending sites you aren’t currently using but will want to come back to. This conserves your Chromebook’s memory and keeps it from getting bogged down. You can set up custom settings, such as only having tabs suspended after a certain amount of time, never suspending a certain site, or suspending all tabs other than the one you are working on. If you want to reactivate a tab, you simply press the page and you’ll have access again.
Many modern workers are at risk of Digital Eye Strain, also known as Computer Vision Syndrome. Screen glare and improper computer viewing distances can result in eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision, and dry eyes. To combat this, the Eye Care extension notifies you every 20 minutes to look 20 feet away for 20 seconds, as recommended by the American Optometric Association. While this extension’s function is simple, it can make a big difference for those suffering from eye strain.
Promevo can help your school, business, or organization achieve all of your technology goals. As a Google Premier Partner, we can outfit you with the best Chromebooks for your needs, supply you with G Suite licenses, and provide extended support, so you’ll get the most out of your Chrome devices!
