If you are reading this post, hopefully you watched our first episode in our Teach the Teacher: Google Cardboard series and are interested in buying your own Google Cardboard headset. If you have not seen the video, I encourage you to check it out now or watch below.

Let’s get down to business. There are two different ways you can purchase Google Cardboard.

  • The first, is to buy it pre-built, so all you have to do is follow the provided instructions (or watch our new video) to fold together your headset. Unless you purchase a non-cardboard option, then you probably don’t need these instructions.
  • The second option is the “do it yourself” way, where Google provides you a list of necessary parts you can purchase at your local hardware store or online as well as an instruction manual, and you put it completely together yourself.

Either option creates the same headset, so the decision is up to you. We have seen that the DIY method is  great for education, because you can turn it into a class project or an after school club assignment. This allows students to really get hands on and do something together. But, that option takes time. By purchasing a headset that just needs to be folded together, you end up saving a lot of time. This method is great for those who can not wait to start utilizing the tool, or for schools who are looking to purchase in mass quantities.

For purchasing and more information on either of these options, visit https://www.google.com/get/cardboard/get-cardboard/ today. And be sure to check back as we will be releasing more videos AND blog posts on Google Cardboard for Education.
