Google has officially released their latest Chromebook, a testament to their climb into the high-end laptop market. Starting at $999, the Google Pixelbook shows everything a Chromebook can be, from its polished design to its speed and ability to convert into four different devices.
A Thing of Beauty
The Pixelbook is refined and modern, with a silver colored, aluminum unibody, edge-to-edge trackpad, and backlit keyboard. Silicon palm rests make typing more comfortable and provide a gripping surface when using the Pixelbook in its non-laptop modes. Scarcely larger than a sheet of paper, the device offers a crisp, 12.3-inch display and is the thinnest Chromebook yet.
Designed for Strength and Speed
While the Pixelbook is stunning on the outside, it has a tough exterior and a speedy 7th Gen Intel® Core™ processor. An aluminum case and Corning® Gorilla® Glass screen help protect your Pixelbook from minor drops and scratches. Further, a 10-hour battery means that you can work anywhere without needing to pack a charger, though a quick 15-minute charge can give an additional two hours of battery life.
More than a Laptop
Even though the Pixelbook may simply look like a laptop, it can transform into four different devices. The Chromebook’s 360-degree hinges change the laptop to an easy-to-carry tablet, a tented screen, or keyboardless entertainment mode, perfect for binging TV on. The optional Google Pixelbook Pen boosts the capabilities of the Pixelbook even more, especially when combined with Android Apps, such as Adobe Photoshop Sketch, Google Play Games, and Squid. With up to 16 gigs of RAM and 512 gigs of memory, you can store all your designs and documents on one device.
A Personal Assistant at Your Fingertips
The Pixelbook is the first ever laptop with Google Assistant built in. You’ll be able to navigate your day, get answers, and control your home’s smart devices with a click of a button or a quick, “Hey, Google!” Circling an object with the Pixelbook Pen will bring up search results or will define an unknown word, making Google Assistant invaluable to students.
Google’s Pixelbook is fast, light yet durable, and the best Chromebook yet. With a sleek and strong exterior, Google Assistant ready to help you with a single click, and an ever-growing number of apps, a Pixelbook is a high-quality working device that is well worth the investment.
